Part III Chapter 1. Introduction

The third part of the monograph deals with materials other than cement-based ones, and general models and computational techniques for random materials. The material is separated into separate chapters for percolation theory, which is useful for general random materials, finite difference and finite element techniques for random materials represented by a digital image in 2-D or 3-D, microstructure development and its probes, and for each property of interest: conductivity (AC and DC), fluid flow, and elastic properties. Part III is organized very similarly to Part I, so that the introduction to Part I should be consulted for additional details.
